Christmas - New Year Closure

UQ College wishes to advise that the College will be closed from 5pm Friday December 23, 2017 and will re-open on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at 8.30am.

12 Week University Prerequisite English Course

Successful completion of this course will satisfy the prerequisite requirements in English at The University of Queensland, and other universities.

Results will be available to be used in applications for the July 2018 QTAC Offer Round.

Start and Close of Study: Monday February 26, 2018 to Wednesday May 15, 2018

Students attend from 6.00pm - 9pm Monday and Wednesday nights, at St Lucia Campus with 2 Saturdays April 7 and 28.

University Prerequisite Course in English(UPRENG401) is delivered over a 12 week period from February - May 2018.

Entry Requirements:

As this course is the first step on a prospective academic pathway, students must have demonstrated academic ability at the required minimum.

  • Completion of High School Year 11 in Australia, or competencies that demonstrate equivalence at a comparable level.
  • Mature age students or learners from disadvantaged groups without the minimum educational requirements for entry, who are able to demonstrate through interview/testimonials/work samples, the maturity and motivation to succeed in the course may be granted special entry.

Course Cost: $1,500 per course

Intensive Prerequisite Courses: 

UPRENG401 – Employ English language skills commensurate with acadmic purpose

This intensive course is designed to meet the English prerequisite standards accepted by the University of Queensland. The course builds on existing experience with English language or related studies particularly in Year 11 and Year 12 (and/or extensive experience applying these principles in everyday life or the workplace). Participants will also build their knowledge base through discussion, research and evaluation of the strengths and limitations of English language skills.

The units of competency above forms part of 10246NAT Certificate IV in University Preparation.    

Students who successfully complete the requirements of the unit will also receive a Statement of Attainment.

TERTIARY PREPARATION PROGRAM - January 2018

Applications Close: Wednesday December 20, 2017

Orientation: Tuesday January 16, 2018

Start of Study: Monday January 22, 2018

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test

Recent funding changes from the Federal Budget from 1 January 2018, students may be charged a student contribution rate for enabling programs, at this time UQ College cannot confirm if a charge will be incorporated into this program for 2018.

 

UNIVERSITY PREREQUISITE 12 WEEK ENGLISH COURSE
